Come To Me: 145x145mm

June 17, 2010

“Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart,

and you will find refreshment for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28, 29

What kind of person was Jesus? He was called the “Teacher”. Not the healer or the miracle-worker, interestingly. It was clear to people that Jesus was most concerned with teaching them about “the good news of the kingdom”. (Matt 4:23, 24) He treated people with compassion and was sensitive to the needs of others, particularly those who were sick and “faring badly”.

Jesus hated corruption and injustice. He was approachable and kind, impartial and humble. At a time when women received little respect and had few privileges, he treated them with dignity. (John 4:9, 27)

He was faithful until the end – a cruel and painful death at the hands of his enemies, setting the finest example of loyal obedience to Jehovah.
